Waiting for civilisation to start,
Beyond contradictions of human heart.
Watch each generation tramp off to war,
Stocked with new bullets, grenades and much more.
Anger and hate instilled deep from day one,
Arguments sorted through barrel of gun.
Stand with sad silent souls in Whitehall rain,
Know this will happen again and again.
Generals, royals, complicit MPs,
Dish out medals to live and dead heroes.
Rewards for inventing smart weaponry,
Pound signs followed on by untold zeros.
Our planet burns whilst we drop more bombs.
Civilisation? Will it ever come?
